History of Foundation:

Environment-Economy Strengthening of Indonesia People (Pemberdayaan Ekonomi Lingkungan Rakyat Indonesia) and so called "PEKAT INDONESIA" founded in 2001 by activists of environment. Pekat Indonesia is committed to field of environment and carries out it through education media, research, consultant service, symposium, advocate service, promotion and campaign, and civil society management.

Pekat Indonesia takes its position carrying forward environmental conservation and strengthening micro-economic. Pekat Indonesia's commitment is to increase the consciousness of the urgent of environmental conservation with public support; tribal leaders, religion leaders, enterprises, government, intellectual community, and civil society. Any potential support given by civil society is very significant for Pekat Indonesia's goal in order to equalize both environmental conservation and district development.

Since August, 19, 2002, Pekat Indonesia legally become a "foundation" and certified in Medan, Indonesia, by notary public, Zulfikar, SH., No. 20/ 200. With legal status "foundation", Pekat Indonesia makes itself more reliable and wiser to gain the goal through the vision and mission.

Pekat Indonesia concerns its program in problems related to any efforts in case of improving environmental conservation services and making a better life. Pekat Indonesia believes that "Natural forest is not our ancestors' heritage, yet it is our offspring's deposit."

Vision and Mission of Pekat Indonesia Foundation:

"Make any efforts to optimize the role of society to awaken their critical consciousness and their participation in order to strengthen environment and economy of marginal society in democratic rural, with justice and continuation."

And Carry Out Vision and Mission:

1. To improve society's critical consciousness, continually, in natural resources management.
2. To improve society's access into aspect of economy, public policy, and natural exploiting with justice.
3. To build critical bravery of society in order to gain civilization of society in natural resources management.
4. Conservation of natural resources together with stakeholder.
5. To form the lines of natural resources conservation movement at village/ rural level.
